At AFRICAN BUSH TRAINING, our mission is to train enthusiastic and ethical field guides in the world famous Kruger National Park and the majestic Letaba Ranch Game Reserve; both located in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. With the guidance and care of our experienced instructors - we aim to help develop students into confident and knowledgeable ambassadors for wildlife conservation in Africa.

All our guiding courses are fully accredited by the FIELD GUIDE ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN AFRICA (FGASA) and CATHSSETA (Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality & Sport Sector Education Training Authority)...

 COURSE OPTIONS: 

3-MONTH SAFARI GUIDE PROGRAM

DURATION: 3-Months

The SAFARI GUIDE PROGRAM prepares students for active participation in the African Eco-tourism and Game Lodge industry, by nurturing competent guides, with well formulated career paths in the various speciality fields of a professional guide.  

This includes a good knowledge and understanding of the African wilderness and the development of vitally important additional skills such as bush craft, snake handling, first aid, tracking, birding, wildlife photography and environmental education.

COURSE CONTENTS:

FGASA Apprentice Field Guide (NQF2), Tracks & Signs, Birding, Wilderness Navigation, Bush Craft/Survival (Finding Food, Finding Water etc.), Handling Dangerous Game on foot, Standard Operating Procedure (Emergency Procedures),  And much more...

APPRENTICE FIELD GUIDE COURSE (NQF2)

DURATION:  55 Days Full-time

The FGASA Apprentice Nature Guide Qualification is the most sought after qualification required by the guiding industry for employment. 

The FGASA Apprentice Field Guide Course also includes the CATHSSETA Nature Site Guide qualification, which is the minimum requirement for guides to register as legal nature guides in South Africa. Beyond Southern Africa’s borders, the higher standard of the FGASA qualification also enjoys recognition in many other countries on and off the African Continent.

ADVANCED BUSH SKILLS COURSE

DURATION: 25 Days Full-time

The ADVANCED  BUSH SKILLS COURSE has been designed with the serious nature lover in mind… This action packed 25-Day course is ideal for nature enthusiasts who simply wishes to improve their own knowledge and understanding of the bush.

The course is aimed at those who are looking for a more in-depth bush experience, but who does not necessarily want to do a career orientated course or become a Nature Guide as such. (However, the course can also be used to great effect in preparation for the FGASA Field Guide Practical Assessment...)
